i S <br />X-RAY TECHNICIAN <br />The California Department of Public Health—Radiologic Health Branch has set minimum standards for <br />all x-ray schools with educational programs for X-Ray Technicians. Our program of studies meets these <br />minimum standards: <br />X-RAY TECHNICIAN— California Department of Public Health - <br />Radiologic Health Branch, Title 17 Regulations" <br />instructional Hours: 1.155 Hours which include 520 Clinical Hours <br />' <br />Clinical Requirement; • 50 Chest Exams —minimum 3-month internship <br />• 50 Upper Extremity Exams —minimum 3-month internship <br />• 50 Lower Extremity Exams —minimum 3-month internship <br />• 200 Torso -skeletal Exams —minimum 3-month internship <br />• Exam categories must be completed concurrently <br />THE PROGRAM: <br />The program will cover the principles of radiographic imaging, medical terminology, anatomy & <br />physiology, x-ray physics, radiation protection, radiobiology, digital radiography, and positioning factors <br />for Chest, Extremity, and Torso -skeletal x-ray categories. The program also includes Medical Assisting/ <br />Back Office procedures include medical terminology, medical law and ethics, fundamental anatomy & <br />physiology, back -office examinations, first aid, and healthcare provider CPR. <br />EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: <br />To provide the student with didactic, laboratory, and clinical training needed to enable them to meet an <br />entry-level position as an X-ray Technician/Medical Assistant with the ability to perform Chest, <br />Extremity, and Torso -skeletal X-rays procedures and a variety of Medical Assistant/Back Office <br />procedures. In addition, Medical Assistant students will be able to sit for the CMA Examination. <br />CALIFORNIA STATE X-RAY TECHNICIAN EXAMINATION: V <br />All successful graduates of the X-ray Technician/Medical Assistant program are eligible to take the <br />California State X-ray Technician Examination through the American Registry of Radiologic <br />Technologists in the appropriate training categories of Chest, Extremity, Torso -skeletal & Digital <br />radiography. The examination can be scheduled at multiple testing centers throughout California.
