PROJECT EXPERIENCE \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ CITY HALL PLAZA David Volz Design worked with the City of Irvine to transform the large lawn area in front of the Civic Center to a more usable, sustainable, and interesting landscape. As part of the first phase of the project, the design team created several design concepts for the City that were refined to one final design that focuses on converting some of the existing �,° square feet of turf into a California friendly landscape that is complimentary to the Irvine City Hall campus. The design features a wide variety of decorative grasses that blanket a series of winding pathways. In between these walkways are a set of water feature surrounded by large boulders that serve as informal seating. This area functions as a nice space for visitors to rest and enjoy the landscape. The focus of the design is the large open space towards the south that features a large and dramatic central sculptural element, raised seat wall and bench seating on the perimeter. ................................
