Pier G Avenue North Sewer Line Improvement Project <br />Port of Long Beach, CA <br />As part of TAIT's On -Call Contract with the Port of Long Beach (POLB), TAIT <br />was selected to provide civil engineering services for the review, <br />recommendation, design, and construction support services for the Pier G <br />Avenue North Sewer Line Improvement Project. The project limits spanned <br />approximately 1/3 of a mile within Pier G, and included the review of <br />existing conditions, analysis of tributary areas:ard hydraulic capacity for the <br />existing system, preliminary design and recommendation for five separate <br />design alternatives which included conventional open trench, pipe bursting, <br />sewer lift stations, sewer force mains, and retrofit of existing sewer lift <br />stations to accommodate the current peak flow conditions. Extensive <br />meetings and coordination efforts were conducted with POLB during the <br />preliminary engineering phase to prepare detailed quality management <br />plans and a basis of design report that outlined all project parameters. <br />Disciplines included within this project include civil, geotechnical, traffic, <br />plumbing, and utility potholing/locating services, all of which required <br />coordination and incorporation to the basis of design report. In addition to <br />the sewer improvement plans, this project also includes the rehabilitation <br />and widening of pier G Avenue North as well as the Reconstruction of Pier <br />G avenue South. TAIT was tasked with preparation of master traffic control <br />plans and phasing concepts for the project in order to ensure POLB trucking <br />operations were not impacted during the course of the project. The existing storm drain lateral was <br />discovered to be extremely shallow which required special design and <br />consideration for the relocated condition.
