Class Schedules and Holidays <br />UEI College campuses offer year-round <br />enrollment with classes starting approximately <br />every four weeks. All class modules are <br />approximately four weeks in length. (See the <br />Academic Calendar at the end of this catalog). <br />The programs at UEI College are divided into <br />modules that are self-contained units of <br />instruction. Students can enter at the beginning <br />of any module except externship and continue in <br />the cycle until completion of the program. UEI <br />College offers morning, afternoon, evening, and <br />weekend classes at most locations. All classes <br />are held on campus. UEI College does not <br />provide English as a Second Language <br />coursework. <br />In observance of the following holidays, UEI <br />College does not hold classes on: New Year's <br />Day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, <br />President's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, <br />Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (2 <br />days), and Winter Break. (See the Academic <br />Calendar at the end of this catalog) <br />Facilities and Equipment <br />UEI College campuses are designed to teach <br />students the skills required in their chosen career <br />fields, Each facility is equipped with the <br />appropriate furniture, equipment, and supplies <br />required to conduct programs effectively. The <br />facilities are spacious, clean, and present a <br />professional appearance. All laboratories have <br />workstations simulating the actual work <br />environments which students will encounter in a <br />professional setting. <br />Student lounges are open to students, and <br />vending machines provide snacks and <br />refreshments. Students should use the lounges <br />when eating and are asked to respect the rights <br />of all students for a clean environment. <br />Maintaining and preserving the college's facilities <br />and equipment is an obligation of all faculty, staff, <br />and students. Students are expected to treat <br />facilities and equipment with care and will be held <br />liable for the destruction of college property. <br />Students may consume food and beverages in <br />the designated Student Lounge and smoking is <br />prohibited within the college. <br />Class Size <br />UEI College limits the size of its classes to <br />maintain the educational soundness of its <br />instructional programs. Class size may vary from <br />one subject area to another and from laboratory <br />to lecture. For student to instructor ratios, please <br />see the supplement insert for this Catalog. <br />0 <br />Student Code of Conduct <br />Professional Appearance and Dress <br />Code <br />Professional appearance presents the image of <br />performing well in the workplace. UEI College <br />prides itself on training the highest quality student <br />for today's workplace, and part of this preparation <br />is the adoption of a professional dress code. We <br />aim for the highest standards and expect our <br />students to have the same goal. The standards <br />are to be followed by all students of the college in <br />the laboratory and administrative classes, and at <br />all times while on campus and during <br />externship. Please see your Admissions <br />Representative or the Director of Education for <br />the Professional Appearance and Dress Code <br />information. <br />Student Conduct <br />Students are expected to follow all the rules and <br />regulations of UEI College and to conduct <br />themselves within the parameters of acceptable <br />behavior at all times. While on school premises <br />or externship sites, students shall conduct <br />themselves in a professional manner. Disruptive <br />behavior, including but not limited to fighting, <br />harassment, cheating, use of profanity, and <br />stealing is not acceptable and may lead to <br />termination from UEI College. Use of cell phones <br />for personal use is not permitted during any class <br />or lab sessions and should be kept to a minimum <br />while on campus. <br />Fraternization Policy <br />Employees of the College are prohibited, under <br />any and all circumstances, from dating or <br />engaging in any fraternization with students, <br />regardless of the student's age and/or regardless <br />of whether the student has consented to such <br />conduct. Further, employees are prohibited from <br />entertaining students or socializing with students <br />outside of the College environment. Similarly, any <br />action or comment by an employee which invites <br />sexual or romantic involvement with a student is <br />considered highly unethical, in violation of <br />College policy, and may result in disciplinary <br />action by the College. <br />Inappropriate behavior between employees and <br />students Includes, but is not limited to: flirting; <br />dating; making suggestive comments; requests <br />for sexual activity; physical displays of affection; <br />giving inappropriate personal gifts; frequent <br />personal communication with a student (via <br />phone, notes, e-mail, letters, text messages, <br />social networks, etc.) unrelated to course work or <br />
