Automotive Technician <br />Instructional Weeks: <br />Normal Time to Complete: <br />Delivery Method Offered: <br />Program Objective <br />Program Information <br />Automotive Technician <br />Diploma <br />36 <br />40 <br />Hybrid and In -Residence* <br />The Automotive Technician diploma program prepares students to successfully enter the workforce in an <br />entry-level position in automotive maintenance and repair. It consists of a well-balanced comprehensive <br />program that combines the theoretical aspects of automotive diagnostics with direct hands-on practical <br />training in repair procedures in a shop environment. The program introduces students to basic and <br />advanced automotive technology including engine theory, fuel systems, fuel injection theory, electrical <br />diagnosis, ignition systems, carburetor repair, tune-up, and onboard -computerized engine control. The <br />program also provides instruction in brakes, heating and air-conditioning, manual and automatic <br />transmissions, and front-end alignment. Particular emphasis is placed on hybrid drive systems and <br />emerging auto technologies. Students will gain professional skills such as understanding Instructions, <br />communicating effectively, and completion of basic automotive diagnostic, repair, and safety procedures. <br />The program is 36 weeks long and consists of nine modules. Tests and/or quizzes are administered weekly <br />during each didactic module; however, there is no final examination for the program.
