Dental Assistant <br />Instructional Weeks: <br />Normal Time to Complete: <br />Delivery Method Offered: <br />Program Objective <br />Course Descriptions <br />Dental Assistant <br />Diploma <br />34 <br />40 <br />Hybrid and in- Residence* <br />Students are trained in clinical, radiographic, and preventive dentistry procedures. The program is 34 <br />weeks long and consists of eight modules. Tests and/or quizzes are administered weekly during each <br />didactic module; however, there is no final examination for the program. The eighth module is spent in an <br />externship consisting of 170 hours of on-the-job training at an approved extern employment site in the <br />community. Dental Assistant classes have a maximum student teacher ratio of 14:1 for lab classes. <br />"*For pre -clinical and clinical procedures, the maximum student teacher ratio is 6:1. <br />Career Outcomes (SOC Code: 31-9091.00) <br />This program prepares students for an entry-level dental assisting position.
