Pharmacy Technician <br />Diploma Program <br />Contact Hours: 662 <br />Semester Credits: 21 <br />Instructional Weeks — Full Time: 24 <br />Average Time to Complete — Full Time: 6 Months <br />Program Overview <br />A properly trained Pharmacy Technician is a valuable asset in hospital, home healthcare, and retail environments, <br />The Pharmacy Technician quite often assumes a central role in the compounding and delivery of drug products and <br />In maintaining records, The Pharmacy Technician acts as an intermediary between the doctor and the pharmacist <br />and between the pharmacist and the patient, Pharmacy Technicians play an important role in an area Where <br />accuracy and responsibility combined With compassion and empathy are of paramount importance, This is a hybrid <br />program Where all theory hours are taught online and laboratory classes are taught on campus. <br />Students may be required by the home campus to attend remediation or tutoring outside of scheduled program <br />hours. Any additional hours Will assist the student toward successful academic progress and competencies. <br />Additional time does not replace absences. <br />Performing math functions competently is essential to safety and accuracy in pharmacy practice. Therefore, <br />achieving competency in math is integrated Into the program requiring students to demonstrate progress in math <br />competencies consistently and at regular intervals. The home campus may make the determination to require <br />tutoring, remediation, or further actions, up to and including course repeat or withdrawal to ensure math <br />competencies are met prior to graduation. <br />Program Mission <br />The mission of the Pharmacy Technician program is to equip students With the necessary practical skills and <br />theoretical knowledge to be successful In an entry-level position as a Pharmacy Technician. The program prepares <br />graduates to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination. Registration and certification requirements for <br />taking and passing this examination are not controlled by Concorde, but by outside agencies, and are subject to <br />change by the agency without notice. Therefore, Concorde cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to take <br />this exam, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment. <br />Program Delivery <br />The Pharmacy Technician program is delivered in a blended format. Courses will be delivered entirely online, entirely <br />on -ground or with an appropriate blend of both online and on -ground hours in the same course. Of the 662 program <br />hours, a maximum of 342 course hours (51.6%) may be offered online.
