Orozco, Norma
From: Beth Thomas <
Sent: Monday, July 17, 2023 1:19 PM
To: eComment; Hernandez, Johnathan
Cc: David Jirik; Carol Frank; Nina Jirik; Nina Jirik; Beth Thomas
Subject: Support of Item 39 for 7/18 Meeting
Santa Ana City Council Members,
As a 20 year resident and homeowner in the Washington Square neighborhood,we believe our city should not allow
people to abuse drugs and lay passed out on our city's sidewalks, parks, and bus stops.
I personally have called and reported individuals who have been passed out in the parking lot entrance at the bail office
on the corner of Freeman St. and Civic Center in our neighborhood.
I support the Councilmember Requested Item#39 submitted to be discussed at the July 18 City Council meeting. To
direct the City Manager to have Santa Ana Police Officers consistently detain any individuals within the City of Santa Ana
that violate existing state law related to individuals who are found in public places under the influence of drugs or
controlled substances where they are a danger to themselves or others and transport them to the Santa Ana Jail for
processing, and prior to release, provide them with information on available substance-abuse treatment services.
Allowing rampant and uninterrupted drug use in our city is having a devastating impact on our community. Doing
nothing can no longer be an option.
Thank you,
Beth & Kelly Thomas

Santa Ana CA 92703
Please forgive any typos or short replies my iPhone doesn't catch.
4
