Orozco, Norma
From: Greg Perez <
Sent: Tuesday, July 18, 2023 11:36 AM
To: eComment
Subject: Support for Proposal Addressing Drug Abuse in Santa Ana
Dear Santa Ana City Council Members,
I hope this email finds you well. As a resident of Santa Ana, I am writing to express my wholehearted
support for the proposal put forward by Councilman Phil Bacerra to address the issue of drug abusers
in our city. I firmly believe that taking action against this problem is crucial for the well-being and
safety of our community.
I'm a husband, father, and local church leader in Santa Ana where we believe that "As parents, we
have a sacred duty to rear our children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and
spiritual needs" (The Family: A Proclamation to the World).
Allowing rampant drug use and individuals passing out in public areas has had a detrimental impact
on our beloved city. It not only compromises the quality of life for residents but also poses a
significant risk to public health and safety. The proposal to instruct the City Manager to have the
Police Department detain individuals who violate state laws related to drug abuse and transport them
to the Santa Ana Jail for processing is a proactive step towards addressing this issue.
Furthermore, I appreciate the provision in the proposal that emphasizes the importance of offering
information on available substance-abuse treatment services to individuals before their release. This
approach demonstrates a commitment to not only deterring drug abuse but also providing an
opportunity for those struggling with substance addiction to seek the help they need.
I believe it is crucial for our community to support this proposal and encourage its swift
implementation. By taking a strong stance against drug abuse, we can work together to create a
safer, healthier, and more vibrant Santa Ana for all residents.
As a concerned resident, I would like to request that you carefully consider the positive impact this
proposal can have on our city and support its adoption during the upcoming City Council meeting. I
believe it is imperative to prioritize the well-being and safety of our community, and this proposal
aligns perfectly with that goal.
Thank you for your dedication to serving the residents of Santa Ana, and I look forward to witnessing
the positive changes that this proposal can bring. If there is any additional information or support I
can provide, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Yours sincerely,
Greg Perez

3
