Page 2; Agenda Item #39, submitted by Susana Sandoval.
Unless convicted of a felony what is the humane policy regarding the arrest of an
undocumented person who has no criminal record. Will the police officers receive
updated training on how to effectively implement the new policy and who will do
the training?
Councilmember Phil Bacerra your intent to protect the community and the
individuals who are found in public places under the influence of drugs or
controlled substances where they are a danger to themselves or others is to be
respected and a step in the right direction.
I urge you Councilmember Bacerra, and staff assigned to this issue to do the
research on the concerns presented, and develop a comprehensive plan of action
for the new policy to indeed work effectively for all.
Thank you, Mayor Valerie Amezcua and Councilmembers, for your consideration
of my concerns. We all want a safer and healthier environment where we can
thrive and have a good quality of life.
Respectfully,
Susana Sandoval
Resident, Wilshire Square
