Course Descriptions <br />ACC 200. Financial Accounting <br />3 credits <br />A survey of basic accounting theory and the application of <br />accounting principles, this course includes the recording and <br />summarization of business transactions in the form of <br />financial statements under the rules of generally accepted <br />accounting principles (GAAP). It is designed for students <br />have little or no prior knowledge of financial accounting. <br />ACC 301. Financial Accounting <br />3 credits <br />This course covers development and application of financial <br />accounting concepts and generally accepted accounting <br />principles. Student will be able to prepare financial <br />statements, accounting for changes in accounting principles. <br />ACC 302. Managerial Accounting <br />3 credits <br />This course is designed to help students build skills in <br />strategic financial management, performance management, <br />and risk management. Major topics include financial <br />statements, product costing, budgeting, cost -volume -profit <br />relationship, and planning and control. <br />ALH 100. Introduction to Allied Health <br />3 credits <br />This class is designed as a preparatory class for allied health <br />students. The course will begin development of skills <br />needed to succeed in a patient centered health care <br />curriculum where students must be able to assimilate <br />knowledge and apply it in a medical environment. The <br />course will provide students with behavioral and problem <br />solving tools to develop personal and professional strategies <br />for success in the health care field. <br />ALH 300. Allied Health Independent Study <br />0.5 - 4 credits <br />Semester hours: 7.5 - 60 depending on units attempted. <br />This course is designed for capable students enrolled in an <br />allied health program or options of the program who wish to <br />increase their knowledge and experience in applied areas of <br />patient care or administration. Students will participate in <br />independent study on assigned areas under staff <br />supervision. Variable Unit Class. May be taken for credit 4 <br />times. <br />BIOL 225. General Human Anatomy <br />4 credits - 54 lecture hours, 54 laboratory hours <br />This course presents a systemic approach to the study of the <br />human body. Lecture presentation begins with an <br />introduction of anatomical terminology and an overview of <br />cellular processes and tissue classification. Students then <br />learn the gross and microscopic anatomy of the following <br />systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, <br />circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive. <br />The laboratory component of the course generally parallels <br />and reinforces lecture concepts through the use of models, <br />histological slides, skeletal materials and cadaver <br />demonstration. <br />BIOL 226. General Human Physiology <br />4 credits - 54 lecture hours, 54 laboratory hours <br />This course is designed to provide students with an <br />understanding of the function and regulation of the human <br />body and physiological integration of the organ systems to <br />maintain homeostasis. Course content will include neural <br />and hormonal homeostatic control mechanisms, as well as <br />study of the musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory, <br />digestive, urinary, immune, reproductive, and endocrine <br />organ systems. The basic mechanisms underlying human life <br />processes and important diseases affecting normal human <br />function will be studied. Prerequisite Class: Human Anatomy <br />or successful completion of the chemistry pre -test. <br />BIOL 227. Medical Microbiology <br />4 credits - 54 lecture hours, 54 laboratory hours <br />This course presents information regarding the world of <br />microorganisms, to include bacteriology, mycology, virology <br />and the study of protozoa. There is a focus on the structure, <br />biology, and genetics of microbes in relation to human <br />disease and the immune system. Basic aspects of <br />microbiology including sterilization, disinfection, and action <br />of antimicrobial chemotherapeutic agents, concepts of <br />infection and immunity and the study of certain selected <br />infectious agents are covered. <br />BUS 350. International Business <br />3 credits <br />The course examines global economies and markets, such as <br />business customs, multinational businesses and foreign <br />trade practices.
