NS-3049 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AMENDING SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE <br />SECTION 2-333 RELATING TO MEMBERSHIP OF THE <br />PARKS, RECREATION, AND COMMUNITY SERVICES <br />COMMISSION <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of Santa Ana desires to remove barriers that prevent <br />active participation by all City residents in City government; and <br />WHEREAS, increased representation of residents fifty-five (55) years and older on <br />the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission will increase active <br />participation of City residents in City government; and <br />WHEREAS, increased representation of residents fifty-five (55) years and older on <br />the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission is best facilitated by adding <br />additional positions on the commission with the specific requirement of being a Santa Ana <br />resident aged fifty-five (55) and older; and <br />WHEREAS, to effectively provide two positions for residents aged fifty-five (55) <br />and older on the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission, it is necessary <br />to amend Section 2-333 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code governing membership on the <br />Commission. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, <br />CALIFORNIA DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The recitals above are each incorporated by reference and adopted as <br />findings by the City Council. <br />Section 2. Section 2-333 (Parks, recreation, and community services <br />commission —Membership) of Article IV of Chapter 2 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code <br />(Administration) is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows: <br />Sec. 2-333. Parks, recreation, and community services commission —Membership. <br />The members of the parks, recreation, and community services commission shall <br />be appointed from the residents for the city as follows: <br />(a) Seven (7) members shall be appointed as required by section 2-326 of this <br />Code. <br />(b) There shall be appointed two (2) additional members representing older <br />adults who shall be age fifty-five (55) or older.
