I've just recently purchased an e-bike and started making my 15 mile commute while traffic cycling and using designated paths.
But I fear that there is a concerted campaign to regulate these vehicles out of existence. Not only does that make me fearful for
my own future but it also makes me sad for everyone else's. My e-bike has turned terrain that was, frankly, deeply hostile and
dangerous to me as a pedal-only cyclist into a space that I can make my own. Taking a lane as I'm legally required to do doesn't
make me fear for my life. Using left turn lanes and biking in dense traffic, likewise, feels more natural. I feel like part of the transit
community now rather than someone being forced to hold on for dear life.

I hope that this is a future other people will be permitted to experience. Please support fair classification of e-bikes and, most of
all, be realistic about licensing requirements. Most of these vehicles are not any more capable than a normal bike except in that
they permit you to ride long distances without risking dehydration or heat stroke. And I hope you'll continue to build out
dedicated, separated bike lanes. Those lanes have single handedly given me hope as someone living and working with a
disability in this county. I beg you to think of people like me who are trying our best to live a dignified life here.

2
