We feel that we will be a great fit for <br />this project due to our extensive experience in educational projects in the context of a larger <br />organization, such as the Santa Ana Zoo <br />LOC is an award -wining group of young architects that is deeply committed to the quality of the <br />built environment of our educational environments. Our focus on human -centered experience <br />makes us uniquely suited to take on the challenges of new educational facilities that serve the <br />leaders of the future while working to embrace sustainable principles. We would like to bring <br />our extensive experience in designing educational environments to contribute to your mission <br />and your belief to instill a passion for the natural world through recreation, education and <br />conservation. LOC would make an excellent choice to assist the City of Santa Ana and the zoo <br />in many of their goals, most importantly in helping to provide innovative, relevant and inspiring <br />learning environments for the following reasons: <br />Our firm's personnel have a successful track record in creating vibrant educational and <br />performing arts environments, including: <br />o A 12 year relationship with Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences, a private K-12 <br />institution in Santa Monica, CA, having completed a master plan and multiple classroom <br />buildings including visual and performing arts classrooms and a black box theater. <br />o A 15,000 SF MPR and classroom addition and renovation for City of Knowledge School, a <br />K-12 Islamic school in Pomona, CA, currently under construction. <br />o Multiple Montessori preschool classroom buildings <br />o The design of a campus facility at Charles Drew University containing a medical and <br />dental clinic and food bank, a community garden, and a new surface parking lot. <br />o Several projects with Alliance College Ready Charter Schools including the conversion of <br />a library to counselor's offices, a concept design for creating outdoor space and additional <br />classrooms at an urban site, which is the basis of this RFP, and a CUP modification to change <br />the use of an existing school, and a ground up 10,000 sf classroom building in South Los <br />Angeles, currently in permitting. <br />Knowledge of and experience implementing the most current educational technology and <br />spatial strategies for enhancing educational outcomes. <br />Award -winning and widely published work. <br />LOC SANTA ANA ZOO 5::�i;.` <br />Architects COMMUNITY HUB BUILIDNG "THE HIVE" RFP <br />March 23, 2023 4 <br />
