Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/public-works <br />Item # 15 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />June 6, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Purchase of an Aerial/Tree Trimmer Combo Truck for the Public Works <br />Maintenance Services Division <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Award a Purchase Order to Terex Utilities, Inc. for an Aerial/Tree Trimmer Combo Truck <br />in an Amount Not to Exceed $426,129 (Specification No. 23-076) (General Fund and <br />Non-General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of a purchase order to Terex Utilities, Inc. <br />for one Terex Hi-Ranger XTPro 60 Aerial/Tree Trimmer combo truck, in the amount of <br />$406,129 plus a contingency amount of $20,000, for a total amount not to exceed <br />$426,129, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City <br />Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency (PWA)’s Fleet Services Division is responsible for the <br />acquisition, maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles, trucks, and maintenance <br />equipment. The Public Works Agency’s Maintenance Services Division is responsible <br />for the maintenance of approximately 400 miles of streets and 50,000 street trees. <br />Aerial/tree trimmer combo truck(s) are used daily at multiple job sites in the removal of <br />tree trimming and landscaping, in the removal of fallen tree branches and limbs, and for <br />use in emergency storm response situations involving downed trees. The vehicle’s <br />unique design incorporates the use and functionality of an aerial bucket truck and <br />chipper box into the same vehicle, providing work efficiency and cost effectiveness. <br />Additionally, these trucks will allow staff to promptly and effectively address customer <br />requests on a daily basis. <br />Santa Ana City Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to purchase against <br />contracts from any public agency utilizing a competitive bid process. Sourcewell, a <br />cooperative government purchasing agency, awarded a contract to Terex Utilities, Inc. <br />(Contract No. 110421-TER) as a result of open, competitive bidding on behalf of its <br />members, which includes government agencies.
