2022-2025 MOU City of Santa Ana & SEIU Full-Time Employees Unit Page 25 <br />a. The duties and responsibilities of the position to be filled are of such nature <br />that they cannot remain unassigned pending the return to duty of the absent <br />incumbent or preparation of an eligible list, whichever is applicable. <br />b. It is not practical to assign the duties of the vacant position to any other <br />employee(s) in the same or higher classification. <br />4. The City Manager or their designee must give written approval of all TUG <br />assignments involving an increase in pay for the appointee. <br />B. Eligibility <br />1. With the exception of those described in Section 5.7(B)(3) below, regular, full- <br />time employees shall receive TUG assignment pay if the following criteria are <br />met: <br />a. The work assumed encompasses the majority of the typical duties and <br />responsibilities of the vacated position. <br />b. To qualify for TUG assignment pay, employees must serve in an acting <br />capacity in the higher level classification as follows: <br />•Ten (10) consecutive working days of eight (8) hours each; or <br />•Eight (8) consecutive working days of ten (10) hours each, for <br />employees working on an alternative work schedule; or <br />•Any combination of consecutive working days consisting of nine (9) <br />hours each and one (1) working day consisting of eight (8) hours, for <br />a total of eighty (80) hours of work for employees working the 9/80 <br />work schedule; or <br />•Two (2) consecutive work weeks, consisting of three (3) eleven and <br />one-half (11.5) hour days and one (1) five and one-half (5.5) hour day <br />for a total of eighty (80) hours of work for employees working on an <br />alternative work schedule. <br />c. In computing qualifying service rendered, only full days of actual duty shall <br />be included, and partial days shall not be combined to make full days unless <br />they are normally granted holiday hours. Normally granted holidays will be <br />included in computing actual duty days. <br />d. Employees must re-qualify for a TUG if the employee has not worked in <br />this specific TUG assignment for a period of eighteen (18) consecutive <br />months.
