<br />Jon is a certified commercial irrigation designer,
<br />certified landscape irrigation auditor, and a partner
<br />with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's
<br />(EPA's) WaterSense program. For 25 years, he
<br />has worked on a wide variety of irrigation projects
<br />including parks, streetscapes, interchanges, hotels,
<br />resorts, residential, and commercial developments.
<br />Jon provides construction observation including
<br />submittal review and site visits (main line testing)
<br />specifically focused on irrigation systems and
<br />controls. He is well versed in the regulatory guidelines
<br />associated with AB1881 (Model Water Efficient
<br />Landscape Ordinance).
<br />Standard and McFadden Park, Santa Ana,
<br />California
<br />DEA was provided a conceptual design of Standard
<br />and McFadden Park, a 2-acre neighborhood park
<br />in the city of Santa Ana, and is currently working to
<br />prepare final plans and construction administration.
<br />The design includes walkways, playground
<br />equipment, a skatepark, half -court basketball, a picnic
<br />area, a shade structure, a rock bioswale, California
<br />friendly plants, drip irrigation, low impact development
<br />drainage and lighting. Other amenities including a
<br />park entrance sign, benches, picnic tables, bike racks,
<br />and drinking fountains will also be provided. Jon-Sen
<br />provided irrigation design for the park projet.
<br />Mariposa Park, Santa Ana, California
<br />Jon provided landscape irrigation design for Mariposa
<br />Park, a new half -acre neighborhood park in the City
<br />of Santa Ana. The local residents requested that the
<br />park include a playground, a teaching area for active
<br />lifestyle classes, and a community garden. The design
<br />included walkways, playground equipment, a picnic
<br />area, a shade structure, a rock bioswale, California
<br />friendly plans (including fruit trees), drip irrigation,
<br />low impact development drainage, lighting, and other
<br />amenities including a park entrance sign, benches,
<br />picnic tables, bike racks, and drinking fountain.
<br />Memory Lane Park, Santa Ana, California
<br />Jon provided irrigation design for the final plans for
<br />the award -winning Memory Lane Park and Trailhead
<br />for the City of Santa Ana. With access to the Santa
<br />Ana River Trail, the pocket park includes a children's
<br />play area, fitness equipment, nature garden, trails,
<br />bike racks, equestrian hitching posts, picnic area, site
<br />furnishings, a dry creek bed with pedestrian bridge,
<br />signage, and security lighting.
<br />Bryce Hanes Park, Riverside, California
<br />Jon provided the irrigation design for the two -acre
<br />Bryce Hanes Park in San Bernardino. The park
<br />is located on a busy corner in an underserved
<br />neighborhood and includes many of the elements
<br />identified throughout the community input process,
<br />such as a water `sprayground', a skate park, soccer
<br />field, open space play, picnic areas, a basketball
<br />court, signage, fitness area, a restroom, art in public
<br />places, and parking.
<br />Ovrom Park, Burbank, California
<br />Jon provided irrigation design for a mixed use site in
<br />the City of Burbank that includes a community center
<br />and urban park. This small urban space and the
<br />many uses it provides was the site's greatest design
<br />challenge. The park includes a basketball court, play
<br />areas, picnic shelters, picnic tables, open turf area,
<br />restroom building and an informal, passive, garden
<br />area.
<br />Marshall Community Park, San Gabriel, California
<br />Jon provided irrigation design for a 2.4-acre park that
<br />incorporated sustainable features such as a synthetic
<br />turf sports field, drought tolerant plant material, `Smart
<br />Irrigation' equipment for water conservation, and
<br />recycled materials for paving and site furnishings,
<br />while still maintaining state -required standards for
<br />elementary school outdoor play. The site features
<br />include many active amenities such as playground
<br />and picnic areas, walking paths, a baseball/softball
<br />field with soccer field overlay, a basketball court,
<br />a handball court, standard school ground court
<br />activities, and fitness stations. The passive amenities
<br />include an educational demonstration garden, picnic
<br />shelters, a restroom, lighting and signage, decorative
<br />fencing, an educational/community history mural wall,
<br />on -street parking and new street frontage landscape.
