the requirements of the Department Procedure # 6003, which sets forth the <br />guidelines for standby status. <br />F. An employee who is continuously and regularly assigned as a Training Officer <br />working in Field Operations, the Detention facility, as a Forensic Specialist II, or <br />as the Training Coordinator will be paid approximately two and one half percent <br />(2.5%) of base pay. <br />G. An employee who is continuously and regularly assigned to and is performing <br />duties of an Internal Affairs Officer will be paid approximately two and one half <br />percent (2.5%) of base pay. <br />H. An employee who is continuously and regularly assigned to perform training <br />functions as a Parking Control Officer will be paid approximately two and one half <br />percent (2.5%) of base pay. <br />I. A Police Officer who is continuously and regularly assigned as a Canine Officer <br />will be paid approximately five percent (5%) of base pay. This pay shall be <br />considered compensation for the care and feeding of the dog off -duty and is for the <br />thirty (30) minutes of time each day for such purpose. <br />The City and the Association understand and agree that this additional <br />compensation is intended to compensate canine officers for all off duty hours spent <br />caring, grooming, feeding and otherwise maintaining their canine unit, in <br />compliance with the FLSA. <br />The parties acknowledge that the FLSA, which governs the entitlement to <br />compensation for canine duties, entitles the parties to agree to a reasonable number <br />work hours for the performance of off duty canine duties. The work hours (thirty <br />(30) minutes per day) derived at in this agreement were determined after an actual <br />inquiry of the officers assigned in the canine assignment as addressed by Leever v. <br />City of Carson City, 360 F.3d 1014 (9th Cir. 2004). It is the intent of the parties <br />through the provisions of this section to fully comply with the requirements of the <br />FLSA. In addition, both parties believe that this section of the MOU does comply <br />with the requirements of the FLSA. <br />J. A Police Officer or Police Sergeant who is continuously and regularly assigned to <br />and actually performing duties of a Motor Officer assigned to the Traffic Division <br />will be paid approximately two and one half percent (2.5%) of base pay. <br />The City and the Association understand and agree that this additional <br />compensation is intended to compensate Motor Officers for all off duty hours spent <br />maintaining their Motor, in compliance with the FLSA. <br />K. An employee identified by the Police Department, who is continuously and <br />regularly assigned to and actually performing duties of a Detective/Investigator <br />assigned to the Investigations Division or Special Investigations Units as well as <br />Police Investigative Specialist, Background Investigator, Collision Investigator, <br />13 <br />
