ARTICLE IX <br />9.0 HOLIDAYS <br />9.1 Legal holidays observed by full-time permanent and probationary employees covered by <br />this MOU are as follows: <br />• January 1- New Year's Day. <br />• Third (3rd) Monday in January - Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday. <br />• Third (3rd) Monday in February - Presidents' Day. <br />• Last Monday in May - Memorial Day. <br />• July 4 - Independence Day. <br />• First (1st) Monday in September -Labor Day. <br />• November 11 - Veteran's Day. <br />• Fourth (4th) Thursday in November - Thanksgiving Day. <br />• The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day. <br />• December 25 - Christmas Day. <br />• Last working day before Christmas Day, unless Christmas falls on a <br />Thursday, in which instance, the day following Christmas Day shall be <br />observed in lieu thereof. <br />• One (1) Floating Holiday - Any workday selected by the employee with <br />prior permission of the employee's supervisor. <br />• Every day proclaimed by the Mayor of the City as a holiday for City employees. <br />Any holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. Any <br />holiday, which falls on a Saturday, will be observed on the Friday preceding the Holiday. <br />9.2 Employees shall receive ninety-six (96) holiday hours each year (twelve (12) eight (8) hour <br />holidays) in lieu of the twelve (12) holidays specified in Section 9.1. However, the floating <br />holiday in Section 9.1 shall be donated back to the City to pay for the Association <br />President's Leave per Section 14.3.
