Garry Avenue, Santa Ana, California. <br />Introduction and Purpose <br />The subject property at 1700-174o E. Garry Avenue is composed of three detached office buildings, 1700, 1720, <br />and 1740. The property was constructed in 1973 and is 49 years old. It is not located within a historic district and is <br />not identified as a historic property in the City of Santa Ana Property Information Search Database. The property <br />has not been previously surveyed for eligibility under the City of Santa Ana Register of Historic Properties (Local <br />Register), the California Register of Historical Resources (CRHR), orthe National Register of Historic Places <br />(NRHP). <br />A new project is proposed forthe property and includes demolition of the three existing office buildings and <br />construction of a new approximately 91,5oo square foot light industrial warehousing building that would <br />accommodate two tenants. One side of the building would have 42,700 square feet of warehouse space and 2,500 <br />square feet of office and mezzanine space and the other would have 46,800 square feet of warehouse space and <br />2,500 square feet of office and mezzanine space. Each side of the building have 5 dock doors. <br />This Historical Resource Assessment (HRA) Memorandum was prepared to conform to City of Santa Ana General <br />Plan Mitigation Measure CUL-1 Identification of Historical Resources and Potential Project Impacts. For structures <br />45 years or older, a Historical Resources Assessment (HRA) shall be prepared by an architectural historian or <br />historian meeting the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards. This HRA Memorandum <br />was prepared by Urbana Preservation & Planning, LLC with contributions by Alexia Landa, BA, Historian and <br />Wendy Tinsley Becker, RPA, AICP. Ms. Landa and Ms. Tinsley Becker exceed the Secretary of the Interior's <br />Professional Qualification Standards in the disciplines of history and architectural history. Preparer qualifications <br />are attached. <br />The purpose of the HRA Memorandum is to inform the City of the potential forthe property's eligibility under the <br />criteria of the CRHR and the Local Register, contained within Municipal Code Section 30.2, and to assess impacts <br />to historical resources pursuant to Section 15o64.5 of the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines <br />resultant from a proposed project. <br />Definition of Study Area / Area of Potential Impact <br />The study area encompasses the proposed project boundary which conforms to the parcel boundary. 1700-1740 <br />E. Garry Avenue is identified as Orange County Assessor Parcel No. 430-171-07. The study area was intensively <br />surveyed to inform historical resource identification and project impacts analysis. <br />A study area map is included as Figure 1 on the following page.
