Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/pw <br />Item # 19 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />December 6, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Architectural Design Services for Santa Anita Community Center <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Approve Agreement with Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, Inc. for Architectural <br />Design Services for Santa Anita Community Center in an Amount Not to Exceed <br />$425,000 for a Three -Year Term (Project No. 22-1378) (Non -General Fund) (Revive <br />Santa Ana Program) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with Little Diversified Architectural <br />Consulting to provide architectural design and contact documents for a new community <br />center in the Santa Anita Park Project in the amount of $350,237, with a contingency of <br />$74,763, for a total amount of $425,000, for a three-year term beginning December 6, <br />2022 and expiring December 5, 2025, with an option for two, one-year extensions, <br />subject non -substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On July 19, 2022, the City Council authorized the award of a construction contract to <br />Byrom -Davey, Inc. for the total park renovation that includes a new synthetic turf soccer <br />field, sports lighting, built-in concrete bleachers incorporated into the grass slopes, <br />upper terraces to allow for groups or event canopies, a basketball court, play <br />equipment, a parking lot expansion, concrete walkways, site lighting, and landscape <br />and irrigation. On September 6, 2022, the City Council authorized additional <br />contingency funding to this contract to include construction of a new community center <br />at Santa Anita Park (Exhibit 1) <br />On September 30, 2022, the Public Works Agency released Request for Proposals <br />(RFP) No. 22-106A, by which it sought the services of a professional architectural firm <br />to provide design and contact documents for a new community center in Santa Anita <br />Park, to be constructed as part of the Byrom -Davey Inc. contract, utilizing the recently <br />awarded additional contingency amount. <br />The RFP was advertised on the City's online procurement management and publication <br />system with Proposals due on October 21, 2022.
