Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/departments/public-works/ <br />Item # 10 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />November 15, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Amendment to Equipment Rentals Blanket Order Contracts <br />AGENDA TITLE: <br />Approve an Amendment to the Blanket Order Contracts for Equipment Rentals by <br />$198,000 Annually and Add Herc Rentals to the List of Approved Vendors on Contract <br />(Specification No. 22-045) (General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize an amendment to the blanket order contracts for equipment rentals to <br />increase the annual aggregate amount by $198,000, for a revised amount of $278,000 <br />for the remainder of the current one-year term expiring April 19, 2023, with four one- <br />year renewal periods, and add Herc Rentals to the list of approved vendors on contract <br />for equipment rentals, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City <br />Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency’s Water Resources Division oversees and maintains the daily <br />operations of the City’s water and sanitary sewer systems and associated facilities, <br />while the Parks Division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the City parks <br />and trails. Overall, the Public Works Agency relies on rental services to provide the <br />necessary equipment to assist with operations and special projects. The Santa Ana <br />Police Department uses rental services to assist the Police Department’s Cannabis <br />Enforcement team for various cases, as needed. <br />On April 19, 2022, the City Council awarded contracts to Sunbelt Rentals and United <br />Rentals for equipment rentals. With an increase in projects at City facilities, including <br />reservoir inspections and improvements at Central Stores, the need for rental <br />equipment has increased. Adding Herc Rentals to the list of vendors on contract <br />ensures equipment availability and offers a comprehensive inventory of rental <br />equipment to meet the Agency’s needs. <br />Santa Ana Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to utilize purchase against <br />contracts from any public agency employing a competitive bid process.
