Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/departments/public-works/ <br />Item # 10 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />October 18, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Award Purchase Order to Altec Industries, Inc. for Utility Boom Trucks <br />AGENDA TITLE: <br />Award a Purchase Order in an Amount of $368,636 to Altec Industries, Inc. for Two Utility <br />Boom Trucks (Specification No. 22-079) (General and Non-General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to Altec Industries, Inc. in <br />the amount of $368,636, plus a contingency of $20,000, for a total amount not to exceed <br />$388,636, for the purchase of two utility boom trucks, subject to non-substantive changes <br />approved by the City Manager and the City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency’s Fleet Services Division (Fleet) is responsible for the <br />acquisition, maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles, trucks, and maintenance <br />equipment. Several departments within the City require the use of utility boom trucks, <br />which allow staff to safely reach altitudes of up to 40 feet to perform various job functions. <br />These utility boom trucks are being procured on a shared interdepartmental model to <br />enable each specified department to effectively and efficiently meet their respective <br />service delivery needs. In this manner, Fleet can procure two utility boom trucks to serve <br />the needs of two Divisions of the Public Works Agency, as well as the Santa Ana Police <br />Department. <br />The Public Works Agency’s Water Resources Division maintains a wide network of tower- <br />and pole-mounted industrial control instrumentation and communications devices used <br />for monitoring and controlling the City’s water and sewer systems. These devices require <br />routine maintenance and repositioning. The Public Works Agency’s Traffic Engineering <br />Division maintains a vast network of traffic signal systems and street lights which require <br />routine maintenance. The Santa Ana Police Department operates a network of mounted <br />security systems that require routine maintenance and repositioning. <br />Santa Ana Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to utilize purchase contracts for <br />any public agency utilizing a competitive bid process.
