Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/pw <br />Item # 17 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />October 4, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Easement to Southern California Edison <br />AGENDA TITLE: <br />Grant an Easement to Southern California Edison to Allow Underground Power to Serve <br />2202 Magnolia Avenue <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute an Easement Deed granting Southern California <br />Edison (SCE) the right to place, own, and maintain power conduits and conductors <br />underground to serve 2202 South Magnolia Avenue, subject to non -substantive changes <br />approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In 2018, the City acquired parcels of land located at 2201 and 2205 South Bristol Street <br />in conjunction with the Bristol Street Widening project. Along the east edge of the parcels <br />are power poles and overhead power lines, which serve the residential lots fronting <br />Magnolia Avenue (Exhibit 1). <br />The owner of the single-family residential structure at 2202 South Magnolia, immediately <br />east of 2201 South Bristol Street, is completing a remodel and building addition. The <br />building addition must comply with SAMC 41-626, which requires underground placement <br />of utilities serving the site. In order to service the site, SCE requires the City to grant an <br />easement for the undergrounding of the electrical service (Exhibit 2). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />EXHIBIT(S) <br />1.
