2022-23 Orange County Chil dren's Therapeutic Arts Center <br />Youth Employment Program -WIOA Proposal <br />workshops are intended to help assist youth with their future and current family stabilities. <br />5.Worker's Rights/Labor Laws -Participants will be able to learn and understand their rights as <br />an employee in California from things like mandatory break times and benefits. Participant will <br />also be able to learn and understand how to ask and receive accommodations that must be <br />provided to those who have same type of learning or physical disability. As well as questions that <br />may not be asked in an interview or after becoming an employee. <br />6.Analytical Skills at the Workplace -All WIOA youth will be provided with a task analysis and <br />literacy analysis, skills assessm ents, job profiling, and pre-employment work skills. Each of these <br />sills can provide a path to improve the participant's ability to perform basic job skills in the field <br />or job they have or may have in the future. <br />7.Health Resources -Participants will be given resources from our community partners, <br />including Planned Parenthood on how to be healthy and safe, and how to obtain medical services. <br />Additionally, our MECCA coalition, Pepperdine University, USC, School of Social Work, and the <br />County of Orange, Health Agency will provide WIOA participants with other health resources and <br />mental health specialists, if needed. <br />8.Professional Communication/Public Speaking Skills -All Youth will be asked to take a training <br />that will allow them to learn the necessary skills for public speaking, including how to speak to <br />employers and/or new offsite work placements and new potential employers. Also, youth will <br />learn how to create and give oral presentations, as well as how to speak to people when <br />networking for future connections. <br />9.Navigating the Workplace -Participants will learn how to deal with difficult workplace <br />situations, and the importance of effective communication skills for positive professional <br />relationships and conflict resolution. This will include learning about good and bad forms of <br />communication, suggestions on positive and effective communication, and techniques on how <br />to effectively respond to conflict situations. Participants will then have the opportunity to put <br />their knowledge to the test by reviewing different workplace scenarios where they will change <br />the outcome of the situation. <br />11.Civic Engagement and/or Leadership Development <br />A.Can your organization offer a civic engagement opportunity or leadership development <br />opportunity for WIOA youth and other youth in the community, if so, please describe. - <br />Yes, every year we provide our WIOA youth many opportunities for civic engagement and/or <br />leadership development. For example, All WIOA youth are asked to attend and participate in the <br />youth council meetings, so they can share their personal experiences with the program and <br />contribute Ideas/information on how to better serve the youth in Santa Ana. Also, Youth attend <br />other important community events representing OCCTAC and the Santa Ana community. Finally, <br />they are also asked to do presentations to other youth in the community to inspire and share <br />their experience with other youth in Santa Ana and contribute to a better future for our <br />community! <br />17 <br />EXHIBIT 1
