Parks, Recreation, and Community Services <br />www.santa-ana.org/parks <br />Item # 33 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />May 3, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Joint School Collaboration Standing Subcommittee with the Santa Ana Unified <br />School District <br />AGENDA TITLE: <br />Appoint Two to Three Members of the City Council to the Joint School Collaboration City <br />Council Standing Subcommittee with the Santa Ana Unified School District <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Appoint two to three members of the City Council to the Joint School Collaboration City <br />Council Standing Subcommittee with the Santa Ana Unified School District for terms <br />expiring on December 15, 2022. <br />DISCUSSION <br />At the April 19, 2022 meeting, the City Council adopted a resolution to establish a standing <br />subcommittee, the Joint School Collaboration City Council Subcommittee with the Santa <br />Ana Unified School District (“SAUSD”). The purpose of the Joint School Collaboration <br />City Council Standing Subcommittee is to discuss issues of mutual interest between the <br />City and SAUSD, focusing on youth services. Topics include joint use of SAUSD and City <br />facilities, library facilities, and educational programs, among others. <br />The Subcommittee will create and approve its own by-laws that will provide further detail <br />relating to its scope of work of advising the City Council. Provisions of these by-laws will <br />include, among other parameters, a recurring meeting schedule. <br />Make-Up of the Subcommittee <br />The Joint School Collaboration City Council Standing Subcommittee will consist of <br />representatives from the City Council and the SAUSD Governing Board as follows: <br />Two or three members of the City Council will be appointed by a majority of the <br />entire City Council at a public meeting. <br />Up to two members of the SAUSD Governing Board will be appointed by a majority <br />of the entire SAUSD Governing Board at a public meeting.
