Resolution No. 2022-XXX <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />the Fair Maps Act, United States Constitution, California Constitution, and the Federal <br />Voting Rights Act. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. The Santa Ana City Council hereby finds, determines and <br />declares that all of the Recitals set forth herein above are true and correct. <br />SECTION 2. Pursuant to Elections Code § 21621 and Santa Ana Charter § <br />101.2, the Santa Ana City Council hereby adopts the ward boundaries set forth in the <br />Recommended Map (previously Draft Map N2) attached as Exhibit “A” and <br />incorporated herein by reference, for use in the City’s General Municipal Election on <br />November 8, 2022 and subsequent elections thereafter until a further <br />redistricting is required pursuant to state law or the City of Santa Ana Charter. <br />Metes and bounds of each ward are attached hereto as Exhibit “B” and incorporated <br />herein by reference. <br />SECTION 3. The Clerk of Council or her designee shall take all actions <br />necessary to notify the Orange County Registrar of Voters Office of the City Council’s <br />determination forthwith and provide whatever assistance may be required by the <br />County Registrar of Voters to implement the new ward boundary lines. <br />SECTION 4. The Clerk of Council shall cause a map diagram showing the new <br />ward boundary lines of each and every ward to be published in the Orange County <br />Register not less than thirty (30) days prior to the 2022 general municipal election as <br />required by Santa Ana Charter § 101.4. <br />SECTION 5. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />a majority of the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the <br />vote adopting this Resolution. <br />ADOPTED this ___ day of April, <br />2022. <br />Vicente Sarmiento <br />Mayor <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br />SONIA R.
