Ordinance No. NS-XXX <br />Page 3 of 42 <br /> <br />applicable permits to undertake any construction, demolition, or renovation project within <br />the city. <br /> Bin service shall mean all solid waste collection services provided by means of <br />front-loaded collection bins of various sizes. <br />Blue container has the same meaning as in 14 CCR Section 18982(a)(5) and shall <br />be used for the purpose of storage and collection of source separated recyclable <br />materials or source separated blue container organic waste. <br />Brown container has the same meaning as in 14 CCR Section 18982(a)(5.5) and <br />shall be used for the purpose of storage and collection of source separated food waste. <br />Bulky items shall mean solid waste that cannot and/or would not typically be <br />accommodated within a container, including specifically: furniture (including chairs, sofas, <br />mattresses, and rugs); appliances (including refrigerators, ranges, washers, dryers, water <br />heaters, dishwashers, plumbing, small household appliances and other similar items, <br />commonly known as “white goods”); up to twenty (20), thirty (30) gallon bags of green <br />waste (including wood waste, tree branches, scrap wood); and electronic equipment <br />(including stereos, televisions, computers and monitors, VCRs, microwaves and other <br />similar items commonly known as “brown goods” and “e-waste”). Bulky items do not <br />include car bodies, tires, construction and demolition solid waste or items requiring more <br />than two persons to remove. Other items not specifically included or excluded above will <br />be collected provided that they are not more than eight feet in length, four feet in width, <br />or more than 150 pounds. <br /> C&D or construction and demolition debris shall mean construction and demolition <br />solid waste. <br />California Code of Regulations or CCR shall mean the State of California Code of <br />Regulations. CCR references in this article are preceded with a number that refers to the <br />relevant Title of the CCR (e.g., “14 CCR” refers to Title 14 of CCR). <br /> California Integrated Waste Management Act shall mean that act codified by <br />California Public Resources Code Sections 40000 et seq., and any subsequent <br />amendments thereto. <br /> CalGreen means the California Green Building Standards Code. <br />CalRecycle shall mean California’s Department of Resources Recycling and <br />Recovery, which is the department designated with responsibility for developing, <br />implementing, and enforcing SB 1383 regulations on jurisdictions and other regulated <br />entities. <br /> Cart shall mean a plastic container with a hinged lid and wheels serviced by <br />automated or semi-automated collection vehicles and with a container capacity of no less <br />than 30 gallons and no greater than 101 gallons and furnished or supplied to each <br />curbside service unit in the city by the city or its solid waste collection contractor for the
