FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO <br />GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383 <br />Resolution No. 2021-XXX <br />Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2021-XXX <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION <br />NO. 2021-21 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />2445 NORTH PARK BOULEVARD, SANTA ANA, ON THE <br />HISTORICAL REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC <br />REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO. 2021-21 PLACING <br />SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE KEY CATEGORY <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines, and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. On November 4, 2021, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly <br />noticed public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of <br />Historical Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. <br />2021-21) and categorization (Historic Resources Commission <br />Categorization No. 2021-21) of the W.D. Johnston House located at 2445 <br />North Park Boulevard, Santa Ana. <br />B. The W.D. Johnston House has distinctive architectural features of the <br />Georgian/Federal variant of a Colonial Revival style and was built in 1927. <br />C. The W.D. Johnston House qualifies for listing in the Santa Ana Register of <br />Historical Properties under Criterion 1, for its exemplification of the <br />distinguishing characteristics of the Georgian/Federal variant of a Colonial <br />Revival style home. Identifying features of this style include its two-story <br />massing, symmetry, classically inspired detailing, formal portico, elliptical <br />fanlights, and multi-paned fenestration. Additionally, the house has been <br />categorized as “Key” because it has distinctive architectural style and <br />quality and is a good example of Colonial Revival architecture. (Municipal <br />Code, Section 30-2.2). Character-defining features of the W.D. Johnston <br />House that should be preserved include, but may not be limited to: roof <br />configuration, materials, and treatment (medium-pitched side gabled roof, <br />enclosed soffits); massing and composition (two-story block design; <br />symmetry); portico, brick exterior walls trimmed with wood; fenestration <br />(entry door with elliptical fan and sidelights and original wood windows); <br />architectural detailing (columns, frieze, balustrades, red brick detailing, <br />and window shutters); brick entry pathway; and the one-story garage. <br />D. The legal owner of the property is Andrew Dawson. <br />E.
