Police Department <br />www.santa-ana.org/pd <br />Item # 17 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />December 7, 2021 <br />TOPIC: Amendment to the Agreement with Aramark Correctional Services, Inc. <br />AGENDA TITLE: <br />Approve an Amendment to the Agreement with Aramark Correctional Services, Inc. for <br />Inmate Food Services (General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute an amendment to the agreement with Aramark <br />Correctional Services, Inc. to provide inmate meal services for the period of November <br />16, 2021 through June 30, 2023, including a 3.8% meal price adjustment, increasing the <br />contract amount by $67,616.25 for the remainder of the three-year term, subject to non- <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On October 20, 2020, the City Council approved a three-year agreement with Aramark <br />Correctional Services, Inc. after a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) process to <br />provide inmate food services at the Santa Ana Jail. Aramark Correctional Services, Inc. <br />has been the provider of inmate food services since 1997 and continues to perform these <br />services in a professional and competent manner. All meals are prepared based on the <br />State of California Title 15 nutritional requirements along with all Orange County Health <br />Department health and safety requirements. Through this agreement, Aramark also <br />provides catering services for various City functions along with operating the inmate <br />commissary program and Code-7 cafeteria. <br /> <br />The Aramark agreement provides for annual adjustments to the per meal price based on <br />the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in an amount not to exceed 5%. During this second year, <br />the per meal price will increase 3.8% from $2.501 to $2.598 for average daily populations <br />above 400. This pricing will apply to the remainder of the second year of the agreement, <br />and the entire third year of the three-year agreement. Upon City Council approval, the <br />increase will take effect on November 16, 2021. This increase will increase the not-to- <br />exceed amount of the agreement by $26,006.25 for the balance of the second year, and <br />by $41,610 for the third year of the agreement ($67,616.25 total). As a result, the total <br />three-year agreement not-to-exceed amount will increase from $3,514,950 to $3,582,566.
