Climate Emergency Resolution <br />September 7, 2021 <br />Page 2 <br />2 <br />0 <br />1 <br />5 <br />On May 18, 2021, City staff presented an informational report to the City Council to <br />respond to some of the questions posed by members of the City Council. At that same <br />meeting, members of the City Council directed staff to return to the City Council with a <br />resolution declaring a climate emergency, committing to policies opposing fossil fuel <br />expansion and accelerating the clean energy transition as part of the Safe Cities <br />Movement, committing to policies that will reduce both new and existing lead <br />contamination, and endorsing the call for a global fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty. <br />Attached for consideration by the City Council is a revised resolution (Exhibit 1) that has <br />been reviewed by City staff. Separately, attached is a red-lined version of the original <br />resolution shared by Councilmember Lopez at the March 2, 2021 meeting (Exhibit 2) <br />which shows the changes that City staff has made. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />EXHIBIT(S) <br />1.
