LR 8/17/21 <br />Resolution No. 2021-XXX <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2021-XXX <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />APPROVING THE SANTA ANA PUBLIC LIBRARY’S APPLICATION <br />FOR FULL MEMBERSHIP IN THE SANTIAGO LIBRARY SYSTEM <br />WHEREAS, the Santiago Library System (“SLS”) is a state-funded network consisting of <br />the following full members: Anaheim Public Library, Buena Park Public Library, Fullerton Public <br />Library, Mission Viejo Public Library, Newport Beach Public Library, Orange County Public <br />Libraries, Orange Public Library, Placentia Library District; Yorba Linda Public Library and the <br />Huntington Beach Public Library. <br />WHEREAS, the SLS seeks to promote cooperation of library collections and services so <br />as to meet the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs of all residents of the <br />Orange County area. <br />WHEREAS, membership in SLS provides access to potential funding pursuant to the <br />California Library Services Act. <br />WHEREAS, the Santa Ana Public Library is currently an associate member of SLS and <br />desires to become a full member which would provide access and opportunity for potential <br />state funding. The Santa Ana Public Library is the only municipal library in Orange County <br />that is not a full member of the SLS. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana as <br />follows: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana approves the Santa Ana Public <br />Library’s application to become a full member of the Santiago Library System and delegates <br />authority to the City Manager and/or the Executive Director of the Library Services Agency to <br />execute any documents necessary to make such application. <br />Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City <br />Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this Resolution. <br />ADOPTED this ___ day of August, 2021. <br />Vicente Sarmiento <br />Mayor <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br />Sonia R.
