Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/pw <br />Item # 11 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />July 20, 2021 <br />TOPIC: Adams Park Restroom Renovation <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Approve Additional Contingency Funds in the Amount of $70,000 for an Existing <br />Construction Contract with Dream Builders Company for the Adams Park Restroom <br />Renovation Project with an Estimated Project Delivery Cost of $226,000 (Project No. 20- <br />2708) (Non-General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Approve an amendment to the Project Cost Analysis in the amount of $70,000 in <br />additional contingency funds for a total estimated construction delivery cost of $226,000, <br />which includes $104,900 for the construction contract, $26,100 for contract <br />administration, inspection, and testing, and a $95,000 project contingency for <br />unanticipated or unforeseen work, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the <br />City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On February 2, 2021, per Ordinance No. NS-2963, the City Manager authorized the <br />award of a construction contract to Dream Builders Company to renovate the existing <br />restroom building at Adams Park (Exhibit 1). The project is currently under construction <br />and additional improvements have been identified that surpass the existing contingency <br />of $25,000. To capitalize on the favorable pricing of the existing contract with Dream <br />Builders Company, staff recommends increasing the project contingency by $70,000 to <br />complete the work and deliver the restroom renovation at Adams Park. <br />The recommended action will increase the project contingency by an additional $70,000, <br />for an amended project contingency of $95,000, thereby increasing the total estimated <br />construction delivery cost to $226,000, as indicated in the Cost Analysis (Exhibit 2) and <br />as summarized in the table below: <br />Project Item Current Total New Total <br />Construction Contract $104,900 $104,900 <br />Construction Administration, Inspection, Testing $26,100 $26,100 <br />Contingencies $25,000 $95,000 <br />TOTAL CONSTRUCTION DELIVERY COST $156,000 $226,000
