Rasic Construction Company, Inc., Mladen Buntich <br />Construction Co., Inc. Mike Prlich and Sons, Inc., Dominguez General Engineering, Inc., <br />and Paulus Engineering, Inc. for Sewer System Repair Services for a Total Amount not <br />to Exceed $4,000,000 for up to Five Years (Non -General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute agreements with W.A. Rasic Construction <br />Company, Inc., Mladen Buntich Construction Co., Inc. Mike Prlich and Sons, Inc., <br />Dominguez General Engineering, Inc., and Paulus Engineering, Inc. to provide sewer <br />system repair services, for a three-year period beginning July 20, 2021 and expiring July <br />19, 2024, with provisions for one two-year renewal period exercisable by the City <br />Manager and City Attorney, for a shared aggregate amount not to exceed $4,000,000, <br />subject to non -substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency's Water Resources Division oversees and maintains the daily <br />operations of the City's water and sanitary sewer systems. The sanitary sewer system <br />includes approximately 400 miles of sanitary sewer main, 9,000 manholes, approximately <br />48,500 sewer laterals and 2 sewer lift stations. All sewage is conveyed to the Orange <br />County Sanitation District for treatment. <br />Closed circuit television (CCTV) technology is utilized to assess the condition of sewer <br />mains and identify sewer system deficiencies. On occasion, the City requires the services <br />of independent contractors to assist with sewer system infrastructure repairs. These <br />services may include the repair or replacement of sewer mains, manholes and sewer <br />laterals in order to return services to normal operating conditions. <br />On April 28, 2021, the Public Works Agency issued Request for Proposals (RFP) 21-036 <br />for contractors to provide sewer system repair services. The RFP was advertised on the <br />City's online bid management and publication system with bids due on May 19, 2021. <br />System records indicate 295 vendors were notified and 14 vendors downloaded proposal <br />files.
