Parks, Recreation, and Community Services <br />www.santa-ana.org/parks <br />Item # 22 <br /> <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />July 6, 2021 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TOPIC: Sole Source Purchase Order for Art Wraps for Eight Fitness Courts <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA TITLE: <br />Sole Source Purchase Order to the National Fitness Campaign, LLC (NFC) for Art Wraps <br />for Eight Fitness Courts for an Amount Not to Exceed $218,500 (Non-General Fund) <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Approve a sole source purchase order to the National Fitness Campaign, LLC (NFC) for <br />Art Wraps for eight fitness courts in an amount not to exceed $218,500, subject to non- <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br />Since June 2019, the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Agency (PRCSA) has <br />worked toward the purchase and installation of eight fitness courts at the following <br />parks: Jerome, El Salvador, Delhi, Cabrillo, Rosita, Thornton, Lillie King, and Heritage <br />Parks. PRCSA will add graphics to the fitness courts through an artist grant program <br />where Santa Ana based artists will be selected to create art wraps for the exercise walls <br />of the fitness courts. <br /> <br />On April 8, 2021, the PRCSA is issuingissued a Call for Mural Proposals to Santa Ana- <br />based artists or artist teams for a collection of digital designs for outdoor murals suitable <br />for placement on eight of their new fitness courts. <br /> <br />On June 23, 2021, The a selection panel will reviewed, and evaluated and selected the <br />applications and eight artists final design probased on the below design criteriaposals <br />based on criteria that may include, but is not limited to the following: <br /> Artistic merit <br /> Availability and ability to work for the term of the project <br /> Santa Ana-based artist/team <br /> For the fitness court located near the Southwest Senior Center, priority will be <br />given to an artist/team that includes at least one artist who is 60+ years old <br /> <br />NFC provided Aan all-inclusive award of $5,000 , to be provided by NFC per to each <br />artist/team, is to cover all costs incurred by the artist in the course of designing the <br />artwork. <br /> <br />
