(Updated March 1, 2021) <br />Q6) <br />A. We estimate that we will be able to serve over 1,500 families with emergency <br />rental assistance. This number is subject to change if we receive additional <br />funding from the State or Federal government. <br /> <br />Q7) If I receive this assistance will I have to pay it back? <br />A. No, this assistance is a grant and does not have to be paid back. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Q8) Will the rent payment be paid to me or the landlord? (Updated March 1, 2021) <br />Q8) <br />A. With respect to financial assistance for rent and rental arrears provided to an <br />eligible household, payments shall be made directly to the landlord on behalf of <br />the eligible household, except that, if the landlord does not agree to accept such <br />payment from the City after outreach to the landlord by the City, the City may <br />make such payments directly to the eligible household for the purpose of making <br />payments to the landlord. <br />Q9) The payment will be made directly to the landlord in accordance with strict <br />federal guidelines. <br /> <br />Q9) My rent is less than $3,000 per month. How will that affect my award <br />amount? (Updated March 1, 2021) <br />Q10) <br />A. The Coronavirus Emergency Rental Relief Fund for Tenants is a flat amountone- <br />time payment of $5,5003,000 per household and will apply to past, current or future <br />rent due to your landlord. To the extent that applicants have rental arrears, the <br />City may not make payments for prospective rent payments (current or future rent) <br />unless the City has also provided assistance to reduce an eligible household’s <br />rental arrears. If the tenant’s rental arrears plus rent for the next three months <br />exceeds $5,550, the amount of assistance will be reduced to only pay for the rental <br />arrears plus no more than the tenant’s rent for the next three months as indicated <br />in their lease agreement. <br /> <br />Q11)Q10) Is the application available in languages besides English? <br />A. Yes, the application is available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese. <br /> <br />Q11) How can I apply to receive rental assistance?
