Parks, Recreation, and Community Services <br />https://www.santa-ana.org/parks <br />Item # 11 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />March 2, 2021 <br />TOPIC: Adopt Two Resolutions for Grant Applications <br />AGENDA TITLE: <br />Adopt two resolutions for the Memorial Community Center (Phase I) and Santa Ana Zoo <br />at Prentice Park Revitalization Projects for the submittal of grant applications for the <br />Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Adopt two resolutions for the Memorial Community Center (Phase I) and Santa Ana Zoo <br />at Prentice Park Revitalization Projects for the submittal of grant applications for the <br />Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The State of California Statewide Park Program has made $395,300,000 available to <br />Cities, Counties, Districts, and Joint Powers Authorities for projects that will create, <br />expand, or renovate parks. The City of Santa Ana is preparing two grant applications, <br />which will be submitted by the application due date of March 12, 2021. The proposed <br />projects are: <br />1. Memorial Community Center (Phase I)– Grant Request $8.5 Million <br />The proposed project has two phases. The application is for phase one that includes the <br />demolition of the existing community center structure, construct a 26,000 square foot <br />Community Center with a multi-purpose room, community room, recreational room, <br />kitchen, additional activity rooms, staff offices, and restrooms. In addition, outdoor <br />walkways, patio, new landscaping, and security lighting around the outside of facility are <br />included. Also included is a parking lot on the north side of the park and additional <br />restrooms next to the existing pool area. <br />The estimated total project cost is $15,884,500. If awarded, $8.5 million in grant funds, <br />the City will leverage $7,384,500 through a combination of funds from Acquisition and <br />Development, Cannabis Public Benefit, Community Development Block Grant and <br />General Fund.
