Parks, Recreation, and Community Services <br />https://www.santa-ana.org/parks <br />Item # 12 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />March 2, 2021 <br />TOPIC: National Fitness Campaign Grant <br />AGENDA TITLE: <br />Adopt a resolution accepting the 2021 National Fitness Campaign Grant, approve an <br />appropriation adjustment for the three project sites, award a purchase order for fitness <br />court equipment, and amend the Fiscal Year 2020-21 Capital Improvement Program. <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />1) Adopt a resolution accepting the 2021 National Fitness Campaign Grant of $30,000 <br />per site (Thornton Park, Lillie King Park, and Heritage Park) and agreeing to endeavor to <br />provide $109,065 per site to fund the remaining purchase price of the Fitness Courts. <br />2) Approve an appropriation adjustment of $212,545 in cellular tower funds received in <br />prior years (Acct. No. 05113002-50001) to the capital expenditure account (No. <br />05113263-66220). <br />3) Approve a sole source purchase order to the National Fitness Campaign, LLC (NFC) <br />for a NFC Fitness Court at Thornton Park, Lillie King Park, and Heritage Park for an <br />amount not to exceed $327,195, to be funded by the Capital Outlay Fund and the <br />Cannabis Public Benefit Fund, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City <br />Manager and City Attorney. <br />4) Approve an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2020-21 Capital Improvement Program to <br />include the Thornton Park Fitness Court, the Lillie King Park Fitness Court, and the <br />Heritage Park Fitness Court projects. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On June 4, 2019, the City Council adopted a resolution accepting the 2019 National <br />Fitness Campaign grant of $30,000 per site and agreeing to endeavor to provide $90,000 <br />per site to fund the remaining purchase price of the equipment plus the cost of installation <br />at five City sites (Jerome Park, El Salvador Park, Delhi Park, Cabrillo Park, and Rosita <br />Park). City staff installed the five fitness courts to ensure Santa Ana residents have the <br />resources they need to lead a healthy lifestyle through outdoor exercise.
