<br />PROPOSAL STANDARD AVENUE PROTECTED BIKE LANES <br />3RD TO WARNER <br />City of Santa Ana <br />LIMONITE GAP CLOSURE <br />Eastvale <br />Mark Thomas is providing roadway design, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, <br />and bridge design for both the roadway and a separate multi-use trail <br />spanning the Cucamonga Creek Channel throughout the Cities of Chino <br />and Eastvale. The project includes coordination with the US Army Corps <br />of engineers to secure MS 408 approvals and the development of a CEQA <br />compliant environmental document for all project improvements. Limonite <br />Avenue is a critical multimodal transportation corridor that runs east-west, <br />providing the connection to I-15 for the northern portion of the City. <br />CLIENT <br />City of Eastvale <br />REFERENCE <br />Bryan Jones <br />(951) 703-4411 <br />bjones@eastvaleca.gov <br />PERIOD OF <br />PERFORMANCE <br />2019-OngoingOriginal project concepts included a 6-lane arterial facility, however after <br />performing 2040 projections and traffic modeling, we were able to confirm <br />a 4-lane facility was sufficient, saving the City millions of dollars in bridge <br />construction costs.Additionally, we were able to identify a multi-lane <br />roundabout in lieu of a conventional signal was more feasible and safer and <br />was incorporated into the final alternative. The corridor is planned as a Class IV bikeway in the City’s <br />Bicycle Master Plan. We analyzed Class IV bikeways as well as Class I <br />paths. Class I paths were selected as it combined bicycle and pedestrian <br />modes, increased separation of trucks and vehicles, and reduced costs. In <br />addition to the Class I paths along the Limonite Avenue corridor, the project also includes the addition of a <br />pedestrian bridge over Cucamonga Creek Channel south of the roadway within an SCE corridor. <br />18
