CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br />STREET SWEEPING SERVICES 22 <br /> <br /> <br /> a modified schedule must be submitted for review to the Projects Manager or designee for <br />approval prior to the date the changes are to take effect, but not less than 48-hours. Otherwise, <br />it is intended that the Contractor will develop a permanent schedule utilizing the information, <br />route schedule and any other information provided by the City, which will allow the City to <br />monitor the Contractor's progress. Failure to notify of a change and/or failure to perform an <br />item of work on a scheduled day may result in deduction of payment for that date or week based <br />on curb miles not swept. On rainy days, normal sweeping operations should be considered in <br />effect unless or until they are canceled by City Project Manager or designee. The designated <br />Contractor holidays for this contract shall be New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, <br />President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving <br />Day Holidays and Christmas Day Holidays. <br />The existing posted routes (days and times) will not be changed to accommodate Contractor. <br /> <br />The City reserves the right to change frequency of sweeping routes, modify routes with either <br />reduction or addition of curb miles swept, and add new streets and routes to be swept. <br /> <br />II. ALTERNATIVE-FUEL SWEEPING EQUIPMENT <br /> <br />This solicitation for services will require alternative-fuel sweepers ONLY, as defined pursuant <br />to Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Rule 1186.1 - alternative-fuel sweeper means a <br />sweeper with engine(s) that use compressed or liquefied natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas <br />(propane), methanol, electricity, or fuel cells. Hybrid-electric and dual fuel technologies that <br />use diesel fuel are not considered alternative-fuel technologies for the purposes of Rule 1186.1. <br /> <br />III. STREET SWEEPING EQUIPMENT <br /> <br />1. The street sweeper or any relief sweeper used to perform this contract work shall: <br />a. Be AQMD and State (if applicable) approved alternative fuel. The Contractor shall be <br />liable for all AQMD, State or Federal fines levied against the City relating to Contractor <br />Street sweeping equipment violations. <br />b. Be a standard full size motorized sweeper equal to or larger than a Tymco 600, <br />Schwarze model A7 or similar model with comparable hopper size, equal pick up <br />abilities and with dual gutter brooms. <br /> <br />c. Equipment shall be maintained visually and operationally; brushes and brooms are to <br />be replaced regularly. The paint and body of the street sweeper shall be maintained in <br />good condition with no visible rust or body damage. <br />d. Vehicle engines shall be routinely maintained to ensure a high level of service during <br />street sweeping operations and comply with all State or California Department of Motor <br />Vehicles CAL-OSHA and all other applicable codes required by the State, County, and <br />City. <br />e. Equipment should arrive clean for each daily schedule. All equipment is subject <br />to inspection by the City’s Project Manager or other designated City Staff at any time. <br />f. The Contractor shall provide a relief sweeper(s) to complete scheduled routes for each <br />sweeper out of operation, broken down, scheduled for maintenance or any other similar <br />situation. <br />g. The Contractor shall provide a listing of all sweepers and relief sweepers identifying: <br />i. Make, model, and year. <br />ii. Company identification unit number. <br />iii. California license number. <br />iv. Company vehicle colors.
