Public Works Agency <br />https://www.santa-ana.org/pw <br />Item # 23 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />November 7, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Purchase of a Bobcat S66 Loader Vehicle with Trailer for the Public Works <br />Maintenance Services Division <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Award a Purchase Order to South Coast Bobcat for One Bobcat S66 Loader Vehicle <br />with Trailer in an Amount Not to Exceed $128,968 (Specification No. 23-160) (Non- <br />General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to South Coast Bobcat <br />for one Bobcat S66 with Trailer, in the amount of $118,968, plus a contingency amount <br />of $10,000, for a total amount not to exceed $128,968, subject to non-substantive <br />changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: Yes <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency’s (PWA) Parks, Fleet, and Facilities Division is responsible <br />for the acquisition, maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles, trucks, and <br />maintenance equipment. With the assistance of the Fleet Services Team, the PWA <br />Maintenance Services Division is requesting a new Bobcat S66 with Felling trailer. <br />The PWA Maintenance Services Division is responsible for maintaining approximately <br />400 miles of streets and 800 miles of sidewalks. As a part of its work equipment fleet, <br />the Division requires a skid steer loader vehicle. The skid steer loader is a versatile and <br />multi-functional all-purpose vehicle with a wide range of attachments that enables staff <br />to carry out various tasks efficiently during their daily field operations. These tasks <br />include moving and lifting heavy objects, such as tree limbs, tree trunks, and clearing <br />away illegally dumped debris and rubbish. The compact size of the vehicle makes it <br />suitable for use in tight locations that require nimble operation, such as narrow alleys <br />and easements. Moreover, the vehicle is essential in emergency situations, such as <br />responding to rain and windstorm events as well as after-hours emergency service <br />calls, making it a vital asset for the City's emergency preparation efforts. <br />Santa Ana City Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to purchase against <br />contracts from any public agency utilizing a competitive bid process.
