MINUTES: Agenda Item Nos. 6, 7, and 9 were considered out of order, before the <br />remainder of the agenda. (See pages 7-8). <br />Upon approval, Acting City Clerk Norma Orozco administered the Oath of Office to Isabella <br />Guerra, Danny Vega, Amalia Mejia, and Darlene Perez. <br />MINUTES: AT 7:03 P.M., AGENDA ITEM NO. 26 WAS CONSIDERED OUT OF ORDER <br />AND HEARD PRIOR TO THE CONSENT CALENDAR. <br />26. Discuss and Consider Directing the City Manager to Direct Staff to Enter into <br />Negotiations with the Los Angeles and Orange Counties Building and Construction <br />Trades Council to Work Off and Build On the City's Expired Community Workforce <br />Agreement (CWA) which Establishes Labor Relations Policies and Procedures for <br />the City — Councilmember Penaloza <br />MINUTES: Mayor Amezcua opened Item No. 26 for public comments. <br />The following speakers addressed the City Council in -person: <br />1. John Hanna, Southwest Region of Carpenters, spoke of the importance of being <br />able to afford to live in the city where you work. <br />2. Luis Aleman spoke on behalf of the Orange County Labor Federation and in favor <br />of Item 26. <br />3. Ernesto Medrano, Los Angeles and Orange Counties Building and Construction <br />Trades Council, spoke in support of item 26. <br />There being no additional speakers. Mayor Amezcua closed public comments. <br />Councilmember Penaloza spoke of the importance of the agreement and requested <br />staff present a new tentative agreement within 30 days. <br />Councilmember Hernandez spoke in support of the item. <br />Councilmember Bacerra spoke in support of the item and the 30-day turnaround <br />proposed by Councilmember Penaloza. <br />Councilmember Phan spoke in support of the item and the 30-day turnaround <br />proposed by Councilmember Penaloza. <br />Councilmember Vazquez spoke in support of the item. <br />Mayor Amezcua spoke in support of the item and the 30-day turnaround proposed by <br />Councilmember Penaloza. <br />CITY COUNCIL 4 February 21, 2023 <br />
