Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/public-works <br />Item # 12 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />November 21, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Purchase of a Bucket Truck for Public Works Parks Maintenance <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Award a Purchase Order to Terex Utilities for One Terex Hi-Ranger LT40 Bucket Truck, <br />in an Amount Not to Exceed $246,693 (Specification No. 23-166) (General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to Terex Utilities for one <br />Terex Hi-Ranger LT40 Bucket Truck in the amount of $241,693, plus a contingency <br />amount of $5,000, for a total amount not to exceed $246,693, subject to non- <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: No <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency’s Parks, Fleet, and Facilities Division is responsible for the <br />acquisition, maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles, trucks, and maintenance <br />equipment. The Fleet Services section maintains an equipment replacement schedule <br />and works with various departments to routinely replace vehicles and equipment that <br />have surpassed their useful life cycle. <br />The Parks Maintenance team provides landscape maintenance services throughout City <br />parks and facilities. The Park Maintenance team utilizes bucket trucks for ongoing <br />operations and is essential for projects concerning high reaching electrical work, tree <br />trimming, overhead structure maintenance, gazebo and roof repairs, and other hard-to- <br />reach areas. The equipment requested is to replace Park Maintenance’s aging fleet that <br />have surpassed their useful lifecycle. <br />Santa Ana City Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to purchase against <br />contracts from any public agency utilizing a competitive bid process. Sourcewell, a <br />cooperative government purchasing agency, awarded a contract to Terex Utilities <br />(Contract No. 110421-TER) as a result of open, competitive bidding on behalf of its <br />members, which includes government agencies. <br />Staff researched available procurement options and product offerings in the market, and <br />determined that Terex Utilities meets the City’s specifications.
