Flores, Dora
From: Brian Mandel, Esq. <brian@brianmandellaw.com>
Sent: Sunday, December 03, 2023 2:10 PM
To: eComment
Subject: Anti -Israel resolution
How dare the Santa Ana city council even consider a vile, hateful, divisive resolution that supports the Hamas terrorist
organization!
First, what business is it of the Santa Ana city council? Every citizen in Santa Ana can petition his or her US
representative or Senator to express views on what is going in in Israel; the resolution before the Santa Ana city council
is little more that an effort to mobilize anti Semitic elements in the community. International events are clearly not a
legitimate the domain of a small, local city council.
Second, the resolution charges Israel with "ethnic cleansing" and war crimes. Both are ludicrous positions, which
demonstrate either the outright ignorance or willful hatred of Israel by their proponents. There are many times as many
inhabitants of Gaza now than when Israel initially took control; Israel must be the worst ethnic cleanser in
history. Unfortunately, Arab states such as Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen, Morocco, etc. have been
quite good at ethnic cleansing of Jews, since there are hardly any significant Jewish populations in those countries as
they were all forcibly expelled in 1948.
Nor is it a war crime for a country to defend itself from murderous, viscous attacks by hateful barbarians. On October 7,
2023 it was Hamas that committed not only war crimes but crimes against humanity! Israel takes great pains to
minimize civilian casualties, unlike Hames that targets Israeli civilians and then uses its own citizens as human
shields. And lets not forget that Hamas kidnaps infants, children, and old ladies to use as hostages, also a war crime.
The Santa Ana city council did not introduce a resolution condemning Syria during their ongoing civil war, which has
killed over 500,000 civilians. Nor have they accused Russia of "ethnic cleansing" for bombing civilian targets in
Ukraine. The list of worthy transgressors is long, but it seems that Santa Ana is only concerned with how the only Jewish
state, tiny Israel, defends itself. What a bunch of hypocrites!
The resolution must fail.
Sincerely,
Brian S.
