The resolution makes clear
that it is not so concerned about past, present, or future deaths of innocent civilians in Israel.
The proposed ceasefire resolution refers to Israeli casualty figures as "estimates" but cites Palestinian casualties as exact
numbers, casting doubt only on Israeli deaths. This encourages conspiracy theories that deny the horrific atrocities committed by
Hamas on October 7th. Through this disparity, the resolution "vows to combat antisemitism" while it actually promotes and
amplifies it.
The resolution does not address what Israel should do to protect its multicultural, pluralistic society if it does not defend itself
from terrorist attacks, including the one that occurred in Jerusalem today (November 30th) killing at least 2 civilians and injuring
many more. The terms of the resolution, if pushed onto Israel, would leave the country's 9 million residents at risk of annihilation
if terrorist attacks are allowed to progress (and as Hamas has promised it will continue to carry out).
1
