Flores, Dora
From:
Flores, Gaston
Sent:
Monday, December 04, 2023 10:59 AM
To:
eComment
Subject:
FW: Contact the City Council Submission
From: notify@proudcity.com <notify@proudcity.com>
Sent: Sunday, December 3, 2023 10:37 AM
To: Flores, Gaston <GFlores@santa-ana.org>
Subject: Contact the City Council Submission
Name
Dror Landau
Email

Address
Irvine, California
United States
Map It
Who is this message for?
• Councilmember Thai Viet Phan
Comments or questions
Dear Council -member Thai Viet Phan,
I read the ceasefire resolution submitted by Council -members Vazquez and Hernandez. I'm urging you to vote no on this
resolution.
I was in Israel visiting my family when Hamas declared a war on Israel on 10/7/2023 by committing atrocious attacks on innocent
Israeli civilians.
In the following days we were in fear that other terror organizations and countries around Israel would start a regional war.
Gladly so far, they "only" attack Israeli towns close to border with Lebanon. One of the main reasons for that is the strong
message of support by President Joe Biden.
Approving this resolution would send the wrong message to Hamas, ISIS like, terrorists and their supporters. It will not shorten
the war, just the opposite.
Moreover, the resolution blames Israel for the deaths of Palestinians that occurred because Hamas initiated a war. Israel is no
more morally responsible for those deaths than the Allies were for German casualties during World War II or for Syrian
casualties during the fight against ISIS.
No nation would agree to neighbor a quasi -state controlled by a terrorist organization committed to genocide, one that has
demonstrated its capabilities and reiterated its intent countless times, including after Israel and the Palestinians Authority signed
the Oslo Agreement in the WH. By making a demand for a ceasefire, people are effectively asking Israelis to suicidal consent to
mass murder.
The war could stop in five minutes: if Hamas, a fundamentalist organization that took control of Gaza in a coup d'etat, would lay
down its weapons, its leaders would receive safe passage, the PA would take over the Gaza Strip with international assurances,
and all hostages would be freed. A ceasefire would perpetuate the status quo, allowing Hamas to continue to control and
terrorize Gaza. Do not set a precedent that crimes against Israeli and Palestinian civilians pays off, by supporting this Ceasefire
Resolution.
Please vote no on the Ceasefire Resolution.
46
