Araiza, Fatima
From:
Flores, Gaston
Sent:
Thursday, November 30, 2023 2:07 PM
To:
eComment
Subject:
FW: Contact the City Council Submission
From: notify@proudcity.com <notify@proudcity.com>
Sent: Thursday, November 30, 2023 11:58 AM
To: Flores, Gaston <GFlores@santa-ana.org>
Subject: Contact the City Council Submission
Name
Amit Inbar
Email

Address

Newport Beach, California 92663
United States
Map It
Phone
(
Who is this message for?
• Mayor Valerie Amezcua
• Mayor Pro Tern Jessie Lopez
• Councilmember Thai Viet Phan
• Councilmember David Penaloza
• Councilmember Phil Bacerra
• Councilmember Johnathan Ryan Hernandez
• Councilmember Benjamin Vazquez
Comments or questions
As a Jewish resident of Newport Beach I was shocked horrified to read the proposed anti -Israel resolution slated for a vote at
Santa Ana's upcoming city council meeting.
This proposed resolution is completely one -side, using multiple false narratives to place all blame in the current war on the state
of Israel, as it struggles to repel Hamas terrorists who publicly strive to destroy it and commit genocide against all of its citizens,
as well as all Jews worldwide.
Yes — loss of life is tragic no matter where it occurs, but none of those lives would have been lost had Hamas not set upon
massacring, raping and kidnapping so many innocent civilians on October 7 who had done nothing but exist.
Nothing in this resolution will work towards promoting or ensuring a better life for the people in Gaza, who have been forcefully
ruled by Hamas for nearly 20 years, an organization that has used all of its resources to promote their destructive campaign
against Israel, at the expense of its own people. If Hamas chose to lay down their weapons tomorrow and urge its population to
live peacefully alongside Israel, Gaza could become a thriving and successful state.
Not only will this biased resolution do nothing to promote peace or tolerance, it will only serve to further inflame the hate and
antisemitic atmosphere now on open display against our Jewish community. How can our locally elected officials be so complicit
in furthering and even promoting this hate, when you are all sworn to fight against any bias and stand up to all kinds of hate?
Maybe that just doesn't apply to us Jews...
