I urge you to <br />please vote YES to pass this resolution in support of a ceasefire in Gaza. <br />The Oct 7th attacks of Hamas on innocent Israeli citizens were an absolute catastrophe, completely intolerable, <br />and evil. But the Israeli government's military response far exceeded any plausible justification of "self <br />defense", and has resulted in unbelievable, unprecedented numbers of innocent Palestinians killed, the <br />magnitude of which the world has never seen. <br />We have seen from the ceasefire a week ago that diplomacy, negotiations can work and resulted in the release <br />of dozens of Israeli hostages -- as well as dozens of Palestinian women and children who had been arrested <br />without charge by Israel police forces. But Israel has decided to halt the ceasefire and as of yesterday has now <br />resumed by invading Southern Gaza, where the remainder of Palestinians have fled to at the demand of Israeli <br />Defense Forces. <br />We are witnessing in realtime a genocide of a people and we must act immediately to convince Israel to cease <br />fire. <br />As a Jew is hard to see such inhumanity being done to another people by a nation that claims to represent the <br />Jewish people. It is scary to see such military behavior delegitimize Israel and the United States in the eyes of <br />the world. Israel's actions are killing innocent Palestinians, and endangering the lives of all Jews and Americans <br />around the world, and I believe this overreaction will delay any chance of peace being reached for generations. <br />What we've all seen over the 75 years of the Israel/Palestine conflict is that no military option there can bring <br />peace, only diplomacy can. Your leadership is dearly needed in this moment.
