Araiza, Fatima
From:
Sent:
To:
Subject:
Santa Ana Council Members,
Deena Badawiya <
Tuesday, December 05, 2023 4:19 PM
eComment
Agenda Item #19-Call in Support for a Ceasefire in Gaza
I am reaching out today as a United States citizen that is appalled and disheartened at the lack of humanity our
government has shown during this time. However, I am not naive to think that the US government represents its
people to the best of its abilities. That is why I understand that our cities are better to voice the needs of the
people better than our federal government.
I ask that you take action to support a ceasefire in Gaza. These are innocent civilians: they are you, they are me,
they are our brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews --they are people just like us. We must see ourselves
in them. If we were in their position, we would want ordinary people like ourselves to come out in support of
our salvation. I urge you to see your connection to these people and support them by supporting a ceasefire.
Please do not let the wonderful city of Santa Ana, with its rich representation of various people of color, to be
on the wrong side of history.
Best,
Deena Badawiya
