Araiza, Fatima
From: Victor Payan <
Sent: Tuesday, December 05, 2023 9:01 PM
To: !City Clerk; eComment
Subject: Santa Ana Residents Denied Right to Speak on Agenda Item 19
Dear City Clerk,
Can you please let me know the number of people who called in via Zoom and phone to speak during tonight's
City Council meeting on Agenda Item 19, such as myself, and were denied their right to civic participation via
public comment on an important humanitarian issue affecting the Santa Ana community by Mayor Amezcua's
arbitrary and undemocratic decree that public comment would be limited to two hours?
By my tally, over 90% of the speakers tonight supported the ceasefire resolution, and it is likely that the
residents who were denied their voice tonight shared this view to the same degree.
I look forward to your response regarding the number of residents who were denied their right to public
comment on Agenda Item 19.
Thank You,
- Victor Payan
Ward 2
